We are recognised by UNICEF as a Rights Respecting School. The safeguarding and welfare of our children is at the core of our beliefs and all children are aware of their rights and responsibilities. Children and adults work together to recognise and act upon the rights of the child within our school, our local community and the wider world.
Our UNICEF Rights Respecting School Recognition of Commitment recognises that we have embedded the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) within our whole school ethos.
The award promotes and encourages a whole-school approach to challenging stereotypes in all aspects of school life and the importance of gender equality and recognising there are no limits on young people reaching their full potential.
Speakers School Council Award
Our Speaker’s School Council Award celebrates the achievements of our School Parliament and the difference they made to the school, the local community and the environment.
Green Tree School
Our Green Tree Bronze Award recognises how we encourage outdoor learning and inspire pupils about trees, woods and wildlife.
Through the award, the school took part in fun, practical projects while helping the environment and improving our grounds.
The first award on our way to Green Flag This was achieved by creating an Eco-Committee, completing an environmental review and indicating that environmental issues have been covered within curriculum work.
Being a FairAware school means pupils have an understanding of Fairtrade and the use Fairtrade products.
We made a pledge about how we would make healthier choices easier for children and staff and raised awareness about the risks of excessive sugar consumption.
We promoted the following Sugar Smart actions:
Promoting and providing healthy lunches and snacks
Encouraging water consumption
Raising awareness of Sugar Smart messages
This award meant we are committed to improving our school food culture, school food is healthy and uses seasonal ingredients that are at least 75% freshly prepared. We involve pupils and parents in planning improvements to school menus and the lunchtime experience and we give pupils the opportunity to visit a local farm and take part in cooking and food growing activity.
Stars a TFL Community Project
This award means we are among the top 10% of London schools, setting high standards to inspire others to transform travel habits, fully engage the wider community to promote best practices, and see a measurable reduction in the number of journeys made by car every day.
We achieved the MoneySense accreditation in recognition of our commitment to teaching our pupils how to use money safely and responsibly encouraging them to develop an awareness of the importance of maintaining their own financial wellbeing throughout their lives.
Each of the schools participating receives a Heritage Schools plaque in recognition of their commitment to embedding local heritage into the curriculum and encouraging young people to step into the story of where they live.
We were awarded an Artsmark Gold Award in recognition of our arts provision, cross-curricular links and high-quality learning environment. As well as this it recognises our opportunities for cultural capital and our links with other settings.
Healthy Schools London
Our school identified a health priority and devised new projects, practices and interventions to staying fit and healthy. The award recognises good practice in demonstrating, sustaining (and learning from) outcomes and impact in supporting children and young people to achieve and maintain good health and wellbeing.
Youth Sport Trust
The YST Gold Quality Mark demonstrates the value the school places on our sports provision and reflects the whole school approach and commitment to providing a high-quality physical education, school sport and physical activity offer for all pupils.
The School Games Mark recognises our commitment to and development of competition, school sport, physical education and physical activity. It also recognises our broad and balanced offer that actively encourages pupils that aren’t currently engaged or who are engaged less often ensuring participation of the entire school.
